Laura Guttridge is a former swimsuit model and a popular animal activist. She has been working for protecting and saving animals since she was a child. She was the founder of the Marion County Voices For Animals which is a small animal rights group in Ocala, Florida. At present, she is on the board of directors for The Animal Rights Foundation Of Florida, that has been protecting and promoting the rights of animals since 1989. The foundation uses different methods for reaching out to the public to make them aware about the sufferings of the animals. These methods includes writing letters to the editors, demonstrations and outreach events, sending spokespersons to radio and TV shows, etc.
Laura Guttridge has appeared on numerous swimsuit posters, calendars, and magazines. She was the United States finalist in the Miss Hawaiian Tropic Pageant in 1991. She was also Miss Budweiser in 1998. In May 2005, she was also featured in More magazine's swimsuit issue and she was chosen from over 20,000 entrants. More magazine is a leading magazine that celebrates women over 40 and is regarded as the voice of sophisticated, affluent and accomplished women of today.
Laura Guttridge has participated actively in various protests for saving animals like protests to prevent cruelty to animals, protests against hunting, protests against animals in circus and more. She also participated in the promotion of Vegetarian Starter Kit by PETA. She wants to spread awareness among the people about the sufferings of the animals and for their protection. Laura Guttridge was also arrested twice, once during her protest against hunting in the Ocala National Forest and another when she was participating in anti-fur protest organized by San Diego Animal Advocates. |
